Sent

A brief word from Sr Lynne FCJ on mission, being sent and following Christ in freedom, as a religious sister.

FCJ Sisters' Blog

An important element of Ignatian  religious life is the freedom to be ‘sent’. St Ignatius expressed a desire to be ‘placed with’ Christ, Marie Madeleine experienced herself as a companion of Jesus in His mission.
To be sent requires a great trust in the one who sends and openness to the unknown. It requires a willingness to be available, and to live out of that availability even when things are not as we might have hoped.
Being sent is not for the faint hearted!
In my ministry with young adults I often meet people who are at a point in their life where they are motivated by great desires – a sense of wanting to make a significant difference to the world. The question of Ignatian spirituality here is ‘do I have the freedom and availability to place those desires in God’s hands and be sent on mission?’

  1. This is all so very true. As in the Spiritual Exercises we hear so often those words:”Freedom from to Freedom for – mission”
